May 1, 2017 Miranda's Birthday Week

Hello Everyone,

So It's my birthday on Wednesday, I'll be twenty it's so weird to get turning into an adult...

Anyway this week I can't really remember what has happened, it was a blur and felt so long ago. Fortunately Sister Parker is better now so we were able to start doing missionary work again. The week mostly consisted of walking up and down the streets trying to find people to talk to us. We weren't able to find many people this week but that's okay. We did alot of work with our most solid people, Chris is doing so well being a new member. He passed the Sacrament for the first time this Sunday! Paula wasn't able to get baptised on Saturday because she broke the Word of Wisdom and drank cocktails the night before. Neil is still doing well, we have the date set for the 13th of May for both of them.
On Tuesday Neil drove us, Paula and Chris to a dinner appointment at the Cairn's home. Paula and Sister Cairns bonded over being diabetic. Chris wasn't feeling too well. Neil can't eat anything but fish, mushrooms and sweet corn, with zero seasoning. I played a Bugal which was sitting in their home (I still got the ability). Sister Parker was smiling. Over all it was a pretty good appointment.

I'm pretty excited for the coming week we have a bunch of appointments set up and it should be pretty successful week. Today we are going to a castle, I'm really excited!

Happy Easter

Hello!

Most unsuspenseful moves call ever! I'm staying in Ayr with Sister Parker, so excited to teach and baptize so much this next transfer. Highlight of the week is CHRIS GOT BAPTIZED ON SATURDAY!! I'm so excited for him, his baptism was such a great experience and a friend of his came that we are now going to start teaching, ALSO his father came and he's really interested in the Church and came on Sunday as well. So many miracles happened this week I don't even know what's next! I'll just start now at the very beginning of the week. So on Monday last week the Elders in my district came from Stranraer and Kilmarnock to Ayr. We had a pretty fun time together at the beach, making a 'sandcastle' and playing soccer. The sandcastle was basically we half-buried a log in the ground and then dug a mot around it, to be more missionary like, we likened it to ourselves being the temple and the law of Chastity being the mot. Yeah... We also did a bunch of other crazy stuff that would make people question how old we are. After P-day Chris was interviewed for his baptism and of course PASSED.

On Tuesday we had a district Cluster, basically a Zone Conference without food and President. It was pretty good one of the Elders had us list a bunch of Harry Potter Quotes and likened it to Faith in Missionary work. Can you believe it, Sister Parker hasn't watched any of the Harry Potter Movies?!?! It's so cool to have seen it before my mission because alot of Harry Potter was filmed in Scotland. Definitely want to watch it again when I come home to see if I recognize any of the places. We taught a new investigator on Tuesday as well, his name is Vincent, and he's the twin of Bishop McLennan I feel like. I'm excited to teach him again, but with Bishop McLennan. Also it's not just because they're both bald that I think they're twins, they are like in Personality and Speech.

Wednesday and Thursday was really really long days  of GQing. We taught Chris with Micheal McLennan about Temples and the Priesthood. On Wednesday we taught Paula and Neil about the Word of Wisdom, both of them didn't have any problems with it. Except Paula said it'll be difficult to stop drinking wine. Bishop and Micheal was there and it was a really spiritual lesson.

On Friday we were suppose to teach Paula and Neil together again but, just Neil came. He said that just when he arrived at Paula's house she was being loaded into an Ambulance. I was concerned when he told us this but he seems so calm about it and just said that since there wasn't anything he could do to help he decided to just go to the lesson without her. We taught him about Tithing and the Prophet with Brother Newall. When we saw Paula and Niel at Chris' Baptism, I asked Paula what happened on Friday. She told me that she was drinking wine on Friday and was on her second glass (or bottle) when she had a seizure! When she got to the hospital the doctors told her she can't drink Alcohol any more. Niel said, the lord works in mysterious ways! hahahahahahaha!!

I guess Heavenly Father really wants Paula to be baptized. 

Saturday was pretty tough in the morning, GQing lately hasn't been successful at all. People seem to be especially rude during the holidays. Despite all of that we had an AMAZING Baptism for Chris. The Happiness you feel when your brother or sister enters into a promise with Christ is the greatest thing in the world. I'm so excited to see Chris grow in the Gospel, he's going to be a wonderful Priesthood holder. Sunday Paula, Chis and Chris' Dad came to church and it was a wonderful Easter Service.

This week has been super tiring, since last week we didn't have much of a chance to do missionary work with all the conferences my mind, body and spirit wasn't prepared to do missionary work again. Exciting things are happening next week though! Chris, our investigator we started teaching 2 weeks ago is getting baptised this Saturday!! This guy was so prepared to recieve this message, and feels the Spirit so strongly. We taugh Paula and Neil this week as well, they're progressing well too. On Wednesday we were GQing all day, when Sister Parker met an old man and his daughter with disabilities on the Street for the secong time. He shared an experience last time how a few nights after his wife passed away his daughter was visited by her, she appeared to her and in sign told her that she loved her, then touched her leg. The man said that his daughter does have dreams or make stories. He said that since the first time he spoke to Sister Parker he couldn't get the meeting out of his mind and swore he would buy us coffee next time he saw her. Well he kept his word and we sat down in a coffee shop with him (I didn't drink coffee) we tried to explain the Plan of Salvation to him, but he was stubborn saying he has his own beliefs. But he agree with us on the Pre-earth life, even though we are the only Christian Church that believes in it... he goes to a church of his own... Afterwards had a street lesson with a man who doesn't believe in a God and kept arguing with us untill Sister Parker rebuked him and said if he doesn't quit arguing then he'll never learn the truth. We later recieved a series of text messages asking if he converts would she marry him, and it would be better if she believed in faries, wears flowers in her hair, dance around a camp fire in a field and sing about mother nature... Poor Sister Parker... 

We also had another Street lesson with a Drunk African lady who loves Jesus... So I came midway in to a converstation when Sister Parker was asking if we could met up with her some time, and I then offered to met up with her now. We started walking with her to a cafe, only then did I notice she was acting off and smelt like Alchole. Yep. We went into Cafe nero and things started off fine, we were explaining what makes us different than other faiths, showed her a book of Mormon she asked if she could have it, we said yes. The Woman then opened her purse trying to fit the Book of Mormon inside. Then pulled out a Sandwich and told Sister Parker to eat it. Sister Parker said no. but the woman insisted. In the end Sister Parker started eating the sandwich. We tried to teach her about baptism and she asked why we are speaking to her out of all the other people. We explained that we share this message to everyone, the woman called out to a man sitting on a table behind us. "Do you love Jesus?!" So we left soon after because she was making a scene, in the end I ate some of the sandwich as well. It was the best sandwich I've ever tasted on my mission, I have no idea where she bought it.

Another Sandwich I had this week was when our investigator Graham took us out for lunch. I got a Turkey, Bre and Cranberry wrap, it's really tasty everyone needs to try it. Anyway because of that he set himself a baptism date for this coming Saturday. We'll see if he makes it... It was really sunny for alot of this week, I'm starting to get a bit sunburnt. The Beach is full of people from all over Scotland it seems like.

A tradition they have here is to boil an egg, paint it and then on easter roll it down a hill. Pretty silly. They do it to represent the rolling of the stone when Christ was resurrected.
